VTH Program Director receives Certificate of Recognition
Since December 2010, the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System and CenterPointe have been working together to end homelessness among Veterans.
Johnny Rodriguez is the Program Director for CenterPointe's Veterans Transitional Housing program.
He recently received a Certificate of Recognition at the 12th annual Hunger & Homeless Recognition Event sponsored by the Lincoln Homeless Coalition.
The VTH houses 10 Veterans who are experiencing homelessness and issues with mental health or substance use. Johnny works directly with all of them.
Veterans have the opportunity to stay in the program for up to 6 months.
During this time, Johnny helps Veterans transition from homelessness to a safe and stable environment.
He works with them to identify their individual needs, to develop a treatment plan, and assists them with achieving goals.
Johnny also supervises VTH staff who facilitate recovery and rehabilitation groups for the residents.
The Lincoln Homeless Coalition recognized Johnny's dedication to ending homelessness and providing support for those in need.
In his nomination it was noted that Johnny is very knowledgeable about resources in the Lincoln community. He helps the Veterans utilize these resources and collaborates with community agencies to give the Veterans the best supportive tools and opportunities.
