CenterPointe is excited to introduce this year’s Discovering the Future keynote speaker: Patrick J. Kennedy. With introductory remarks by Congressman Jeff Fortenberry.
Son of the late Ted Kennedy, Patrick served 16 years in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Rhode Island’s First District.
During his time in Washington, D.C., Kennedy authored and co-sponsored dozens of bills to increase understanding and treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
Kennedy has openly discussed his struggles with depression and bipolar disorder for much of his life and in 2008 he co-authored and was the lead sponsor of the mental Health Parity & Addiction Equity Act. In 2010, after deciding not to seek re-election, Kennedy co-founded The Next Frontier Campaign: One Mind for Research.
Kennedy has now been sober for over 2 years and currently resides in Brigantine, New Jersey with his wife Amy, step daughter Harper, and their first son, Owen Patrick.
Join us at our dinner event on October 15, 2013 to hear Patrick speak about “Fighting the Stigma of Mental Illness.” For pre-registration, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
